What to expect during hypnotherapy

Each session begins with an open conversation to get a feeling of where you are in your progress and what that day’s goals are. While I will have treatment plan to best address your goals, each session is flexible, and we will work on what feels most beneficial in the moment.

As we enter the hypnotic portion of the session, I’ll ask you to get as comfortable as possible and then guide you into the hypnotic trance where all the important work is done. The feeling is similar to meditation or a light dozing sensation. You may open your eyes at any time, but it’s most likely that you won’t want to. Once we’ve completed the therapeutic journey together, I’ll bring you back up to a fully awake and present state of being, feeling refreshed, calm and relaxed.

After each session, I send you a recording of the hypnosis so you can listen to it on your own and reinforce the work we’ve done. The subconscious learns through repetition so listening to the recording is highly recommended.

Because you will be sitting or lying down with your eyes closed for the hypnotic portion of the session, in person sessions are not necessary. If you prefer to stay in the comfort of your own home, virtual sessions work just as well as in-person. This method has been used in hypnotherapy for quite some time and is just as effective as in-person. There is no difference between in-person or virtual sessions effectiveness. Hypnosis happens in the mind, not in an office. Providing virtual sessions also allows me to work with clients in other time zones outside of Pacific Standard Time.
